SESSION: Panel: Get the Regions Moving
Online In Person with Adam Wheeler , Sinsa Mansell , Frankie Snowdon , Jessica Devereux and Caitlin ComerfordThis panel of artists have dedicated their careers to enriching communities through inclusive dance experiences. They share the impact their place-based, community engaging practices have had and how ‘slow touring’ can activate and enthrall regional communities across Australia. They wish to share their knowledge, exchange with others and nurture new place-based dance projects in regional communities across Australia.
The panel discussion will share and ask questions around:
+ The symbiotic relationship between professional dance practice embedded in the regions and process-led, collaborative dance making with, for, and by regional communities.
+ Site responsive and community engaging dance projects are professional practice and not everyone can do it.
+ The significance of projects that are site responsive, compelling, nurturing, and developed over a lengthened period of time.
+ How dance can facilitate a shared creative identity that celebrates where and how we live.
‘Humans need to be active, social and find fulfilment in their lives. Dance embeds members of the community in creative, process-led activity. Our companies use industry best practice to enhance knowledge, stimulate reflection and strengthen connection.’
