SPEAKER: Jessica Devereux
Born in Kalgoorlie, WA, raised in the Macedon Ranges and now sweating gracefully in Darwin NT, on Larrakia land, Jessica Devereux is a dance artist, choreographer and performer passionate about projects that are inclusive, joyous and seek to make a social impact. Drawn to any opportunity to work meaningfully with others, Jess works both independently and as a crucial part of Tracks Dance Company (NT) as Dance Animateur. Jess is currently working closely with her mentors, acclaimed Co-Artistic Directors Tim Newth & David McMicken on Tracks’ programming, building a lasting future vision for the company. Across the country, Jess has contributed to panels at the National Dance Forum, Next Wave Curatorial Advisory Panel and as co-curator of ‘Dance Speaks’ performance-lecture series in Melbourne. Internationally, Jess has had the privilege of working across performance, dramaturgy and artistic exchange at the Ansan Festival (South Korea), with Gabby Rose in Turin (Italy) and in Slovenia. As part of her independent practice, Jess is currently creating a major new work, ‘Mess of a Mudrā' with a team of female-identifying NT artists, generously funded by ArtsNT.
