In 2019 Dave mangenner Gough created the opening of 'mapali - dawn gathering' to launch Ten Days on the Island, in Tasmania. The body of work encompassed Welcome to Country ceremony with Tasmanian Aboriginal Cultural narratives, collaborations with local schools, artists, social groups and Aboriginal Community. It bought together Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who gathered at dawn on an iconic beach at paranaple/Devonport, Tasmania.

In 2021 Dave was invited to direct the launch of Ten Days on the Island with the continuance of 'mapali-dawn gathering.' Dave wrote, directed, narrated and performed a fifty-minute performance with a cast of 200 performers presented on the foreshore of pataway/Burnie.

'mapali' is a large-scale performative body of work art that connects people, place and practice.

The work gathers people and immerses them in the landscape through ceremony, story-telling, performance and natural elements. Dave's Opening Keynote will guide listeners through his curatorial process from the concept, creative process through to site specific delivery.
