SESSION: Deep Dive: A career in collaboration
In Person with Wendy Morrow and Denise RobinsonThis session offers a pause, to reflect and consider a past that might inform a future, to join the circulation of new modes of creative practice. To activate a repository of knowledge and collective thinking and exchanges by and with regional and remote artists in Australia.
As an established collaborator improvisation and experimentation are core to Wendy’s collective practices and projects involving combinations of video, sound, text and mixed media with dance informed movement span over 35 years.
Our works are histories of our practices and lived experiences. In review, they intensify speculative ideas that were current to a time and place. Within this history is tacit knowledge.
Sharing this understanding underpins this session. It will provide a snapshot of Wendy’s thinking and processes, her conceptual ideas and experiences of significant works, and how our collaborations have influenced the development of her individual and collective practices.
The presentation will ask questions. Questions of relevance, context and the meaning of art making in our current climate. Questions around a maturing practice and the challenges of sustaining long term artistic partnerships. About issues of currency and integrity. How do we continue to generate and inspire ourselves and others in these unstable times.
