SPEAKER: Rosie Sitorus
Rosie Sitorus is a linguist and creative based in Midwest Western Australia. She has an established creative practice in spoken word performance, poetry, and music. An experienced performer, Rosie combines her classical training with contemporary influences from cabaret, theatre and cross-cultural collaboration and has worked with communities and creatives across the country.
Rosie works as a linguist and creative project coordinator with rural, regional and remote Aboriginal communities as part of the Bundiyarra – Irra Wangga Language Centre, and through this role, has worked closely with the Badimaya, Malgana and Thiinma/Warriyangga language communities. In 2021, she was jointly nominated for two WA Music Song of the Year awards with Thiinma Elder Peter Salmon for the song ‘Warri Yungu, Warri Baba’, which they co-wrote and performed as part of the band ‘Warralgurniya’.
