Julie Waddington

A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts Julie is a director/producer/teacher/mum. In Melbourne Julie worked with companies such as St Martin’s Youth Arts Centre, The National Theatre, istheatre, La Mama, Melbourne Theatre Company, The Storeroom, Short & Sweet Festival Melbourne, Victorian Arts Centre and the Australian Catholic University. Julie was also a script assessor for the Australian Script Centre, Monash University and Short & Sweet Festival and a judge for the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

From 2007 to 2010 she was the Artistic Director/CEO of Riverland Youth Theatre, a regional youth arts organisation funded by The Australia Council and Carclew Youth Arts, situated on the Murray River in SA.

Since returning to Tasmanian Julie has worked for Tasmanian Theatre Company, Festival of Voices, React Drama School, Ten Days on the Island, Arts Tasmania – Artists in Residence, Salamanca Arts Centre and Tasmania Performs. In 2020 Julie returned to teaching as the specialist Drama Teacher for Snug Primary School. Her recent directing credits include e-baby (Co-Director – TTC) How to Hold Your Breath (Loud Mouth Theatre Co), Taming of the Shrew (Hobart Repertory Theatre), Construction of
the Human Heart (TTC) and One Day Twice (Mudlark Theatre/Junction Festival).
