SPEAKER: Dr Abbey MacDonald

Dr Abbey MacDonald is a Tasmanian artist, teacher, curator and researcher working in Higher Education (Arts teacher education) at the University of Tasmania. MacDonald’s research interests include brokerage of professional learning collaborations (MacDonald & Wightman, 2020) enacting interdisciplinary curriculum (MacDonald et al, 2021) and innovating arts-based methodologies for inquiry in emergent interdisciplinary and cultural contexts (McMahon, MacDonald & Owton, 2017). MacDonald and Wise have published extensively on STEAM education as a distinctive field of expanding interdisciplinary inquiry. MacDonald was awarded the ATEA Teachers Mutual Bank Australian Teacher Educator of the Year in 2019, and was recognised by The Educator (Australia) as a Higher Educator Rising Star in 2020.
