SPEAKER: Colin James
Colin is a PhD candidate with the University of Tasmania, undertaking a research project in partnership with Ten Days on the Island titled -'Measuring cultural outcomes: a practical investigation of the use of cultural outcomes to determine the cultural impact of regional arts festivals'. He trained as an actor at the VCA and has worked primarily in Community Cultural Development for the last 30 years - in regional community theatre (Mainstreet Theatre Company, SA) local government festivals(Brimbank, Nillumbik and Banyule City Councils) venue management (Box Hill Community Arts Centre) Youth Arts (Whittlesea City Council) and arts management and policy development (Banyule City Council) He also managed a not for profit theatre company(the Eleventh Hour, Fitzroy) and spent four years in Bushfire recovery with the St Andrews, Strathewen and Christmas Hills communities following the Black Saturday bushfires. He moved to Tasmania in 2018 and recently wrote the Cultural strategy for the City of Launceston. He performed in 'Ghosts of the Olympic Theatre' at the Launceston Post Office for the 2019 Junction festival.
