Adam Thompson

Adam Thompson is a pakana writer from Launceston. He has received writing awards through the Tamar Valley Writers Festival (2016) and the Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival (2017). In 2018, Adam was awarded a First Nations Fellowship at Varuna Writers House and was one of ten recipients of the inaugural The Next Chapter initiative through The Wheeler Centre. Adam has written for performance art and television and was named Aboriginal Artist of the Year in 2019 at the Tasmanian NAIDOC awards. His debut short-story collection, Born into this, was published by UQP in February 2021. Adam works part-time at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre and is passionate about advancing the interests of the Aboriginal community.
